I have used pre-workout plenty of times over the years. It can be useful when you want a little extra energy before training, especially on those mornings when you are not feeling 100%.
The problem is that if your pre-workout contains caffeine and you use it regularly, your body can start getting used to it. That same scoop that once had you ready to go may eventually feel a lot less noticeable.
At that point it can be tempting to just take more. Personally, I do not think that should always be the first answer. Sometimes it makes more sense to back off for a while and let your caffeine tolerance come down.
That might mean training without pre-workout for a few days or weeks, cutting back on other caffeine at the same time, and getting used to producing a good workout without relying on that extra boost. When you eventually bring it back, you may find that a normal amount feels effective again.
Not every pre-workout is the same, so check what is actually in yours. Some are stimulant free, while others can contain a fairly large amount of caffeine per serving. Either way, more is not automatically better.
Supplements can support your training, but they should never replace sleep, nutrition, and consistency. Those are still doing most of the work.
