Supersets vs Circuits: What’s the Difference?

Supersets and circuits are two training methods that help keep workouts moving and add variety to your routine. While they are sometimes confused with each other, they are used in slightly different ways.
A superset is when you perform two exercises back to back with little or no rest between them. This could be something like bench press followed by push ups, or bicep curls followed by tricep extensions. After completing both exercises, you take a short rest before repeating the set. Supersets are great for saving time and increasing intensity during a workout.
A circuit usually includes three or more exercises performed one after another before taking a break. For example, you might do squats, push ups, rows, and lunges in sequence before resting. Circuits keep your body moving continuously and can add a strong conditioning element to your training.
Both approaches can help break up routine and keep training interesting. Supersets are often used to target specific muscle groups more efficiently, while circuits are great for maintaining momentum and adding a bit more endurance to your session.
The GMLYFT app supports supersets and circuit style training so you can organize your routine clearly and move through your workout without losing focus on the lifts that matter.
