Belt Squat Machine exercise guide

Exercise guide

Belt Squat Machine

The Belt Squat Machine loads the lower body through a belt around the hips rather than a bar across the shoulders. The quadriceps perform much of the work, while the glutes, hamstrings, and calves assist. This setup can provide loaded squatting without requiring the upper body to support the resistance.

Training context

Before using the Belt Squat Machine

Machine designs differ, so belt attachment, platform height, and the method used to release the weight should be checked before beginning. Make sure the belt sits securely around the hips rather than pulling into an unstable position.

The exercise can be used as a primary squat pattern or as additional leg work after barbell exercises. Stance and depth should remain consistent when comparing sets.

Technique overview

Stay centered over the platform

Attach the belt securely and position your feet on the platform. Release the machine only after your stance and balance are set. Bend the hips and knees to squat while keeping the feet planted, then drive through the platform to stand. Avoid allowing the belt to pull you forward or letting the knees collapse inward.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
