Exercise guide

Body Tricep Press

The Body Tricep Press is a bodyweight elbow-extension exercise performed against a fixed bar. You lean toward the support by bending the elbows, then use the triceps to press away. Bar height and foot position determine how much body weight the arms must move.

Training context

What is the Body Tricep Press?

The movement resembles a standing bodyweight skull crusher. Lowering the bar or moving the feet farther back makes the exercise more demanding, while a higher bar or closer stance reduces the resistance.

The bar must be secured inside the rack so it cannot roll or move. Progress the body angle before adding chains or other external resistance.

Technique overview

Keep the body in one line

Grip the fixed bar and step back until your arms are extended and body is leaning forward. Bend the elbows to bring your head or upper body toward the bar while keeping the torso rigid. Press away by straightening the elbows. Avoid letting the hips sag or using a push-up motion through the shoulders.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
