Exercise guide
Body-Up
The Body-Up is a bodyweight triceps exercise performed from a forearm plank. You press the palms into the floor and straighten the elbows to raise the upper body, then lower back to the forearms. The abdominals and forearms help maintain the plank position.
Training context
Muscles worked by the Body-Up
The triceps extend the elbows as the body rises. The abdominals keep the hips and torso aligned, while the forearms support the bottom position.
The exercise may feel different depending on whether both arms press at the same time or one side leads. Use a consistent method when tracking repetitions.
Technique overview
Keep the hips from sagging
Begin in a forearm plank with your elbows beneath the shoulders. Place the palms firmly on the floor and extend the elbows to lift your body while keeping the torso rigid. Lower slowly back to the forearms. Shorten the set when the hips begin to drop or the shoulders shift far beyond the hands.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
