Exercise guide

Bodyweight Walking Lunge

The Bodyweight Walking Lunge alternates legs as you travel forward through a series of split-stance repetitions. The quadriceps, glutes, and hamstrings drive each step, while the calves help maintain balance. No external load is required.

Training context

Setup cues for Walking Lunges

Choose a clear path long enough for the planned number of steps. The surface should allow the feet to land securely without slipping.

Step length affects both balance and range. Use a distance that lets both knees bend comfortably while the front foot remains fully planted.

Technique overview

Regain balance before the next step

Step forward and lower through both legs while keeping the torso controlled. Push through the lead foot to rise, then bring the rear leg forward into the next repetition. Avoid crossing the feet or rushing the transition. Shorten the range when balance begins to determine the movement.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
