Exercise guide
Burpees
Burpees combine a squat, plank transition, optional push-up, return to standing, and jump. The quadriceps drive much of the lower-body work, while the chest, shoulders, triceps, and abdominals support the plank and push-up. The exercise can raise the heart rate quickly without external equipment.
Training context
Who may find Burpees useful?
Burpees can fit bodyweight circuits, conditioning intervals, or short workouts where minimal equipment is available. The push-up and jump can each be modified depending on ability and the purpose of the session.
A step-back version reduces impact and slows the transitions. The movement should remain organized rather than becoming a race to touch the floor and stand as quickly as possible.
Technique overview
Keep each position recognizable
Lower to the floor, place the hands securely, and move the feet into a stable plank. Complete the chosen push-up or hold, return the feet beneath you, and stand into a controlled jump. Reduce the pace, step instead of jump, or remove the push-up when the hips sag or hand placement becomes careless.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
