Cable Close-Grip EZ Bar Curl

The Cable Close-Grip EZ-Bar Curl trains the biceps with a narrow underhand grip on an EZ-bar attachment. The cable provides tension throughout the curl, while the angled bar can offer a more comfortable wrist position than a straight handle. The forearms assist with grip and control.

Training context

Using the Close-Grip Cable Curl

The exercise works well after rows or pull-ups as focused biceps work. It can also be paired with a wider-grip curl, although the practical difference depends on individual arm and wrist position.

Use a grip width that remains comfortable rather than forcing the hands into the narrowest part of the bar.

Technique overview

Keep the elbows beside the torso

Stand facing the low pulley with the EZ-bar held in a narrow underhand grip. Curl the bar upward without leaning back or moving the elbows forward. Pause briefly, then lower until the arms are extended. Keep the cable close enough that it does not drag across the body.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
