Cable Close-Grip EZ-Bar Curl with Band

The Cable Close-Grip EZ-Bar Curl with Band combines cable resistance with additional tension from a resistance band. The biceps curl the bar while the forearms maintain the narrow underhand grip. The exact resistance curve depends on how the band is anchored and stretched.

Training context

Who may use the banded cable curl?

This variation is intended for lifters who already perform cable curls comfortably and want to change how resistance increases through the range. The added band is optional and should have a clear purpose rather than being included automatically.

Both the cable attachment and band anchor must be secure. Record the cable load, band type, and anchor position when comparing sessions.

Technique overview

Control both sources of tension

Attach the EZ-bar to the low cable and secure the band so it cannot slip. Stand tall with a close underhand grip and curl without moving the upper arms. Lower slowly against both the cable and band. Stop immediately if the band changes position or pulls the bar unevenly.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
