Exercise guide

Cable Deadlifts

Cable Deadlifts use two low pulley handles positioned beside the body. The quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, and lower back extend the hips and knees while the forearms hold the handles. The cables provide a guided resistance path that differs from lifting a bar from the floor.

Training context

What are Cable Deadlifts?

The exercise begins by lowering between the cable towers to reach the handles, then standing while the hands remain near the sides. Depending on stance and torso angle, the movement may resemble a squat, deadlift, or a combination of both.

Both cable stacks should use matching settings. Stand centered so the resistance does not pull more strongly to one side.

Technique overview

Stand evenly between the pulleys

Set both pulleys low and use equal resistance. Lower by bending the hips and knees until you can grip the handles securely. Drive through the feet and stand while keeping the handles beside the legs. Return under control and avoid allowing one cable to pull the torso off center.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
