Exercise guide
Cable Hip Adduction
Cable Hip Adduction is a standing inner-thigh exercise performed with an ankle cuff attached to a low pulley. The working leg moves inward and across the body against resistance. Although the source muscle data lists the quadriceps, the movement primarily targets the hip adductors.
Training context
Keeping Cable Hip Adduction controlled
The stance leg supports the body while the working leg travels toward and across the midline. Holding the machine or another stable support helps prevent balance from limiting the exercise.
Use light resistance and the same distance from the pulley on both sides. A large crossover is not necessary when the hips begin to rotate.
Technique overview
Move the leg inward without twisting
Stand sideways to the low pulley with the cuff on the leg closest to the machine. Begin with that leg slightly out toward the anchor, then draw it inward across the front of the stance leg. Keep the pelvis facing forward and return slowly. Avoid leaning away or allowing the cable to pull the foot back uncontrolled.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
