Cable Incline Triceps Extension

The Cable Incline Triceps Extension is performed on an incline bench facing away from a high pulley. The upper arms remain angled overhead while the elbows straighten against cable resistance. The bench provides torso support as the triceps complete each repetition.

Training context

Keeping the Incline Triceps Extension controlled

The main movement should occur at the elbows. If the upper arms swing or the shoulders lift from the bench, the resistance is likely too heavy or the cable angle needs adjustment.

Use a narrow grip that remains comfortable at the wrists. An EZ-bar or rope may be preferable when a straight bar feels restrictive.

Technique overview

Keep the upper arms at one angle

Lie securely on the incline bench and hold the bar overhead with your elbows bent. Straighten the elbows without changing the upper-arm position, pause briefly, and return slowly. Keep the torso against the bench and avoid letting the cable pull the shoulders backward at the bottom.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
