Cable One Arm Tricep Extension

The Cable One-Arm Triceps Extension is a single-arm pushdown performed with an underhand grip. The triceps straighten the elbow while the upper arm remains beside the torso. The cable allows each side to be trained and tracked independently.

Training context

What is the One-Arm Cable Triceps Extension?

This variation uses a single handle and palm-up grip rather than a bar or rope. The underhand position may require less weight because the wrist and grip provide less leverage than in a standard overhand pushdown.

A staggered stance can help maintain balance, but the torso should not lean over the handle to move the resistance.

Technique overview

Keep the elbow fixed beside the body

Stand facing the high pulley with the handle held palm-up. Bring the elbow close to your side and straighten the arm by moving only the forearm. Pause briefly at the bottom, then return slowly without allowing the elbow to travel forward. Recreate the same stance and cable setting on the opposite side.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
