Cable Preacher Curl
The Cable Preacher Curl combines a preacher bench with a straight bar attached to a low pulley. The pad supports the upper arms while the biceps bend the elbows. Cable resistance remains present near the top and bottom of the repetition.
Training context
How is the Cable Preacher Curl different?
The preacher pad limits upper-arm movement and makes it harder to use shoulder momentum. Compared with a free-weight preacher curl, the cable continues pulling toward the pulley throughout the range.
Bench distance and pulley alignment affect the resistance path. Position the bench so the cable clears its frame and remains centered beneath the bar.
Technique overview
Keep the upper arms on the pad
Sit with both upper arms supported and have the attachment handed to you if needed. Curl the bar toward the shoulders without lifting the elbows from the pad. Pause briefly, then lower under control. Stop before the elbows are forced into an uncomfortable locked position at the bottom.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
