Cable Sumo Squat
The Cable Sumo Squat uses a low pulley and wide stance to train the quadriceps, glutes, adductors, and hamstrings. The handle remains centered between the legs while the hips and knees bend together. Cable tension can help keep the resistance in front of the body.
Training context
Who may find the Cable Sumo Squat useful?
This variation may suit lifters who prefer a front-loaded squat without holding a heavy dumbbell or kettlebell. It can also provide a guided resistance path for higher-repetition lower-body work.
Stance width and toe angle should remain comfortable. A wider position is not automatically better if it causes the knees or feet to lose alignment.
Technique overview
Keep the handle centered between the legs
Take a wide stance with the toes turned slightly outward and hold the attachment in front of the hips. Lower by bending the hips and knees while keeping the feet planted and knees tracking with the toes. Stand by driving through the floor. Avoid pulling upward with the arms or leaning backward against the cable.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
