Decline EZ Bar Triceps Extension
The Decline EZ-Bar Triceps Extension is a lying elbow-extension exercise performed on a decline bench. The triceps straighten the elbows while the upper arms remain relatively still. The angled EZ-bar grip may reduce wrist strain compared with a straight bar.
Training context
Who may use the Decline EZ-Bar Extension?
This variation may suit lifters who want a decline triceps exercise and prefer the wrist position of an EZ-bar. It should be performed only when the bench supports, rack, and handoff allow the bar to be controlled safely.
The bar should approach the forehead without striking it. A spotter can help with both the initial handoff and final removal.
Technique overview
Keep control as the bar approaches the head
Secure the legs and hold the bar above the torso with a comfortable close grip. Bend the elbows while keeping the upper arms nearly fixed, stopping before the bar contacts the forehead. Extend the elbows to return. Use a load that allows the bar to remain balanced through the entire set.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
