Depth Jump Leap
The Depth Jump Leap is an advanced plyometric drill performed between two boxes. The athlete drops from the first box, lands on both feet, and immediately rebounds forward and upward onto the second. The quadriceps, calves, glutes, hamstrings, abductors, and adductors all contribute.
Training context
What is the Depth Jump Leap?
The drill trains a rapid transition from landing to takeoff. The time on the floor should be brief, but not at the expense of knee position or balance.
Both boxes must be stable, appropriately sized, and placed on a nonslip surface. Box heights and distance should be reduced while learning the movement.
Technique overview
Own both landings
Step from the first box rather than jumping upward from it. Land on both feet with the knees and hips ready to absorb force, then rebound toward the second box. Land fully on top with soft knees and regain balance before stepping down. End the set when the first landing becomes heavy or unstable.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
