Exercise guide
Dip Machine
The Dip Machine is a seated pressing exercise that primarily trains the triceps. The chest and shoulders assist as the handles move downward and return. The supported machine position removes the need to balance the entire body on parallel bars.
Training context
Who may find the Dip Machine useful?
The machine may suit lifters who want a scalable alternative to bodyweight dips or direct triceps work with an adjustable load. Seat and handle designs vary, so the setup should be adjusted before the working set.
Keeping the torso upright and elbows closer to the sides generally increases the triceps emphasis. A forward lean may involve more chest.
Technique overview
Press downward without lifting from the seat
Sit securely, grip the handles, and begin with the elbows comfortably bent. Press the handles down by extending the elbows while keeping the shoulders controlled. Stop just short of a forceful lockout, then allow the handles to rise slowly. Avoid bouncing from the seat or shrugging toward the ears.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
