Exercise guide

Dumbbell Prone Incline Curl

The Dumbbell Prone Incline Curl is performed face down against an incline bench with the arms hanging toward the floor. The biceps bend the elbows while the bench limits torso movement. The position makes it difficult to swing the dumbbells through the lower range.

Training context

What is the Prone Incline Curl?

The shoulders remain near the top of the bench while the arms hang vertically. This creates a different upper-arm relationship than seated incline curls, where the arms hang behind the torso.

The bench and lower-body position should feel stable before the dumbbells are lifted. Avoid resting the knees in a way that causes pressure or slipping.

Technique overview

Let the arms hang before curling

Lie chest-down with both arms extended beneath the shoulders and palms facing forward. Bend the elbows without lifting the upper arms or chest from the bench. Pause near the top, then lower until the arms return to a comfortable extension. Use light enough weights to keep both sides even.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
