Dumbbell Squat To A Bench
The Dumbbell Squat to a Bench uses a flat bench as a consistent depth target. The quadriceps, glutes, and hamstrings perform the squat while the calves and lower back support balance. The dumbbells remain at the sides throughout the movement.
Training context
Before adding the bench target
Position the bench so it cannot slide and confirm that it sits at an appropriate height. The goal is to touch it lightly, not sit down or transfer bodyweight onto it.
Knee travel varies between lifters. Maintain full foot contact and allow the knees to follow the toes through a comfortable range.
Technique overview
Touch the bench without relaxing onto it
Stand close enough that the bench remains directly behind the hips. Squat while holding the dumbbells at the sides and lightly contact the bench at the chosen depth. Immediately reverse the movement without rocking backward. Move the bench or adjust the range if reaching it changes the natural squat path.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
