Exercise guide
Dynamic Back Stretch
The Dynamic Back Stretch uses repeated straight-arm raises to move the shoulders and lats through an increasing overhead range. It is a warm-up drill rather than a long static stretch. Each repetition should remain controlled as the arms travel higher.
Training context
Setup cues for the Dynamic Back Stretch
Begin with a range that feels easy and increase it gradually over five to ten repetitions. The torso should remain upright rather than leaning backward to move the arms farther.
The movement should not be thrown aggressively. Speed should remain low enough to stop the arms at any point.
Technique overview
Increase the range one repetition at a time
Stand with a stable stance and arms relaxed in front. Raise the straight arms upward through a comfortable range, lower them, and repeat slightly higher. Keep the ribs and lower back controlled as the arms approach overhead. Stop before the shoulders pinch or the torso begins leaning.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
