Fast Skipping
Fast Skipping is a plyometric running drill built around a rapid step-hop pattern. The quadriceps, calves, glutes, hamstrings, and hip muscles work together to produce quick contacts with the ground. The goal is speed and rhythm rather than maximum jump height.
Training context
How Fast Skipping Differs
Unlike high skipping, this variation minimizes airtime and keeps the body closer to the ground. The feet move quickly through an alternating right-right and left-left rhythm.
The drill should travel along a clear route. Speed should increase only while the foot pattern remains accurate and balanced.
Technique overview
Keep the contacts quick and light
Begin in a relaxed staggered stance and establish the step-hop rhythm at a manageable pace. Keep the steps beneath the body and avoid jumping unnecessarily high. Let the arms move naturally with the legs. Slow down or stop when the pattern becomes uneven or the feet begin striking heavily.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
