Exercise guide
Floor Press with Chains
The Floor Press with Chains combines a shortened pressing range with accommodating resistance. More chain rests on the ground near the bottom, and additional chain rises as the bar is pressed upward. The triceps, chest, and shoulders work against increasing resistance toward lockout.
Training context
Setup Cues for the Floor Press with Chains
Both chains must be attached evenly so the bar remains balanced. Their loose ends should stay clear of the plates, collars, rack, and lifter.
Chain weight should be included when selecting the total resistance. The setup may feel considerably heavier near the top than it does when the upper arms reach the floor.
Technique overview
Keep the chains balanced on both sides
Check the rack height, safety position, collars, and chain attachment before lying down. Lower the bar until the upper arms contact the floor gently, pause, and press against the increasing resistance. Keep the bar level as the chains lift. Stop immediately if one side catches or rises unevenly.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
