Exercise guide

High Cable Curls

High Cable Curls are performed while standing between two raised pulleys with the arms extended outward. The biceps bend the elbows and bring the handles toward the sides of the head while the upper arms remain near shoulder height.

Training context

Setup Cues for High Cable Curls

Set both pulleys at the same height and stand directly between them. The cables should begin with tension while still allowing the arms to extend without pulling the shoulders into an uncomfortable position.

A staggered or evenly spaced stance may be used as long as the torso remains centered. Start with a modest load because the elevated arm position can be difficult to hold.

Technique overview

Keep the upper arms level

Begin with the upper arms extended to the sides and elbows softly bent. Curl the handles toward the ears without allowing the elbows to drop or move forward. Pause briefly, then extend the forearms slowly while keeping the upper arms in place. Stop before the shoulders begin compensating.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
