Exercise guide
Incline Push-Up Close-Grip
The Close-Grip Incline Push-Up places the hands near each other on an elevated bar or platform. The narrower position increases the demand on the triceps while the chest and shoulders continue to assist with the press.
Training context
Using Close-Grip Incline Push-Ups
The exercise can be used as a progression toward close-grip floor push-ups or as higher-repetition triceps work. Raising the hands reduces the total bodyweight resistance.
The hands do not need to touch. Use enough space to keep the wrists comfortable and allow the elbows to bend without being forced outward.
Technique overview
Keep the elbows close without forcing them inward
Place the hands narrowly on a secure support and step the feet backward. Lower the chest toward the hands while keeping the body straight and elbows following a comfortable close path. Press back to full control without allowing the shoulders to roll forward. Adjust the grip if the wrists feel strained.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
