Exercise guide
Jerk Dip Squat
The Jerk Dip Squat isolates the short knee bend and drive used before a jerk. The bar remains in the front rack while the quadriceps control the dip and push the athlete back to standing. The abdominals stabilize the torso and the calves help maintain pressure through the feet.
Training context
Keeping the Jerk Dip Vertical
The dip is shorter than a squat and should travel mostly through the knees. If the hips shift backward, the bar may roll forward or lose its vertical path.
Use a load that can remain fully supported by the shoulders. The hands guide the bar but should not carry it entirely through the wrists.
Technique overview
Keep the rack position unchanged
Stand with the feet near hip width and the bar supported across the shoulders. Bend the knees through a short vertical dip while keeping the torso upright and full feet grounded. Drive back to standing through the same path. Reset the rack and balance before repeating.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
