Exercise guide
Leg Press
The Leg Press trains the quadriceps, glutes, and hamstrings through a machine-guided squat pattern. The calves help stabilize the feet and ankles while the backrest supports the torso.
Training context
Keeping the Leg Press Controlled
Foot position and machine design influence how the exercise feels. A shoulder-width stance is a practical starting point, but there is no universal requirement for the knees to stop at exactly 90 degrees.
Lower only while the pelvis and lower back remain supported. Excessive depth may cause the hips to roll away from the pad.
Technique overview
Keep the full foot against the platform
Place both feet securely on the platform and release the safeties according to the machine design. Lower the platform while the knees follow the direction of the toes. Press through the full feet to extend the legs without snapping the knees backward. Reengage the safety stops before leaving the machine.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
