Exercise guide
Linear Depth Jump
The Linear Depth Jump is an advanced reactive plyometric drill. The athlete steps from one platform, contacts the floor, immediately jumps forward onto another platform, and absorbs the final landing. The quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, and calves contribute.
Training context
Why the Linear Depth Jump Is Advanced
The exercise trains the ability to accept force and rapidly produce another jump. It should be used only after the athlete can perform controlled drop landings and ordinary box jumps.
Box height and spacing must remain conservative. Higher boxes do not automatically improve the drill and can overwhelm the landing position.
Technique overview
Step off instead of jumping from the first box
Stand near the edge of the first box and step forward into the space between platforms. Land through both feet and reverse quickly into a forward jump only if the contact remains stable. Land fully on the second platform with the hips and knees bent, then stand and step down.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
