Exercise guide
Looking At Ceiling
Looking At Ceiling is a kneeling camel-style stretch performed while holding the heels and moving the hips forward. The position may stretch the quadriceps and hip flexors while also extending the spine and opening the chest and shoulders.
Training context
Before Using the Looking At Ceiling Stretch
Reaching both heels requires substantial hip, thigh, shoulder, and spinal mobility. The exercise should not be forced simply to match the full source position.
Hands may remain on the hips or rest on elevated blocks instead. The neck can stay neutral rather than dropping the head fully backward.
Technique overview
Move the hips forward before arching farther
Kneel on a padded surface and begin with the torso upright. Tighten the glutes lightly and guide the hips forward while lifting the chest. Reach for the heels only if they are available without collapsing into the lower back. Return upright slowly with the head coming up last.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
