Low Cable Triceps Extension
The Low Cable Triceps Extension is performed lying on the bench of a low-row station with a rope connected behind the head. The triceps straighten the elbows while the cable maintains tension through the movement.
Training context
Benefits of the Low Cable Triceps Extension
The cable pulls from behind the head and can keep tension on the triceps near both ends of the repetition. The rope allows the hands to use a neutral grip.
Because the setup is unusual, confirm that the bench is stable, the rope reaches comfortably, and the weight stack will not lift while entering the position.
Technique overview
Keep the upper arms pointed upward
Lie with the head toward the pulley and hold the rope with neutral hands. Set the upper arms vertically and bend the elbows so the rope moves behind the head. Extend the elbows until the forearms point upward, then return slowly while the upper arms remain still.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
