Lying Close-Grip Barbell Triceps Press To Chin
The Lying Close-Grip Triceps Press to Chin is an EZ-bar extension in which the bar travels toward the chin or lower face. The triceps control elbow flexion and extend the arms back over the chest.
Training context
Understanding the Press-to-Chin Path
Despite the word press, most of the movement occurs through elbow flexion and extension. The upper arms stay near vertical while the forearms guide the bar through a curved path.
The bar should never be dropped toward the face or forced to touch the chin. A spotter and manageable load are important for this position.
Technique overview
Stop before the bar reaches the face
Hold the EZ-bar over the chest with the arms extended. Bend the elbows and guide the bar toward the chin while the upper arms remain steady. Reverse the motion before contact if necessary, extending the elbows until the bar returns above the chest.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
