Exercise guide
Machine Hack Squat (plate loaded)
The plate-loaded Machine Hack Squat guides the torso and sled through an angled squat path. The quadriceps provide the main effort, while the glutes, hamstrings, and calves assist and stabilize.
Training context
Before Adding the Plate-Loaded Hack Squat
Confirm that the shoulders and back sit securely against the pads and that both sides are loaded evenly. Foot placement should allow the heels to remain planted as the knees and hips bend.
Use the machine's safety stops and learn how to engage them before starting a working set. Depth should be based on control and comfort rather than a fixed universal target.
Technique overview
Keep pressure through the full foot
Unrack the sled with the torso supported and feet secure. Lower by bending the hips and knees while allowing the knees to follow the toes. Press through the midfoot and heel to rise without snapping the knees backward. Reengage the safeties after the final repetition.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
