One Arm Floor Press
The supplied One Arm Floor Press uses a full barbell balanced in one hand. The triceps, chest, and shoulder press the load, but the long bar creates substantial instability and rotation.
Training context
Why This Variation Requires Caution
A standard barbell is not designed to be balanced one-handed during a floor press. Even a small shift in the plates can rotate the bar and overwhelm the wrist or shoulder.
A one-arm dumbbell or kettlebell floor press provides the same unilateral training goal with a much more manageable implement. The barbell version should be reserved for specialized setups and direct expert supervision.
Technique overview
Use a stable unilateral implement
For general training, lie on the floor with a dumbbell or kettlebell held above one shoulder. Lower until the upper arm contacts the floor gently, then press back to extension while resisting torso rotation. Do not attempt the one-handed barbell version without specialized assistance.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
