Exercise guide

Overhead Cable Curl

The Overhead Cable Curl is a bilateral biceps exercise performed between two high pulleys. The upper arms remain near shoulder height while the elbows bend to bring the handles toward the head.

Training context

Muscles Worked by the Overhead Cable Curl

The biceps bend the elbows while the shoulders and upper back hold the arms in position. The cables maintain tension as the forearms move toward and away from the upper arms.

Use equal resistance on both sides and choose a pulley height that does not force the shoulders into an uncomfortable position.

Technique overview

Keep the upper arms still as the elbows bend

Stand centered between the pulleys with both arms extended outward and palms up. Curl the handles toward the sides of the head without allowing the elbows to drop or the torso to lean. Pause briefly, then extend the elbows slowly to the starting position.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
