Power Jerk
The Power Jerk drives a barbell from the shoulders to overhead and receives it with both feet moving into a slightly wider squat stance. The legs create the force while the shoulders, triceps, and trunk stabilize the catch.
Training context
Who May Find the Power Jerk Useful?
The Power Jerk may suit weightlifters who want to develop overhead receiving strength without using a split stance. It requires a stable front rack, vertical dip, and comfortable overhead squat position.
The bar should be driven upward with the legs before the athlete moves beneath it. Pressing too early can slow the bar and disrupt the receiving position.
Technique overview
Drive upward, then receive beneath the bar
Begin with the bar settled on the shoulders. Dip straight down through the knees, drive forcefully, and move the feet slightly wider as the body drops beneath the bar. Receive with locked arms and bent knees, stabilize, then stand with the bar overhead.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
