Power Snatch from Blocks
The Power Snatch from Blocks begins with the bar elevated above the floor. This removes part of the initial pull and emphasizes force production from the chosen block height, a close bar path, and a fast overhead catch.
Training context
Understanding the Power Snatch From Blocks
Block height changes the available time and distance for acceleration. A lower block position includes more of the pull, while a higher position places greater emphasis on rapid extension and turnover.
The blocks must be level, stable, and suitable for loaded barbell work. Record their height when comparing sessions.
Technique overview
Stay balanced as the bar leaves the blocks
Take a wide grip and begin with the shoulders slightly in front of the bar. Extend through the legs and hips while keeping the bar close, then pull beneath it into a partial squat. Receive with the arms locked, stand fully, and return the bar carefully to the blocks.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
