Exercise guide
Reverse Band Box Squat
The Reverse Band Box Squat combines an adjustable box depth with bands anchored above the bar. The bands provide the most assistance near the bottom and progressively less assistance as the lifter stands.
Training context
Who May Find Reverse Band Box Squats Useful?
The exercise may suit powerlifters training a controlled box-squat pattern or overloading the upper range. Box height, stance, band assistance, and bar position all change the movement.
The box should support a controlled touch or brief sit without causing the pelvis to roll backward. Completely relaxing the torso under load is unsafe even if the hip flexors briefly release.
Technique overview
Stay braced while contacting the box
Confirm that the box and band anchors are centered beneath the bar. Descend by moving the hips back and allowing the knees to track with the feet. Contact the box without bouncing or collapsing, maintain trunk tension, then drive through the floor to stand.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
