Reverse Grip Triceps Pushdown

The Reverse-Grip Triceps Pushdown uses a palms-up grip on a high cable attachment. The triceps extend the elbows while the grip and forearms keep the attachment controlled.

Training context

Setup Cues for the Reverse-Grip Pushdown

The underhand grip usually requires less weight than a standard overhand pushdown. A straight bar may feel restrictive, so an EZ-style attachment or separate handles can improve wrist comfort.

The lats may help bring the bar into position, but they should not repeatedly drive each repetition.

Technique overview

Keep the upper arms beside the torso

Stand facing the high pulley with a comfortable palms-up grip. Begin with the elbows bent and upper arms fixed near the sides. Extend the elbows to press the bar down, pause briefly, and allow the forearms to rise slowly without letting the elbows drift forward.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
