Exercise guide
Side-Lying Floor Stretch
The Side-Lying Floor Stretch lengthens the upper arm overhead while the body rests on one side. The position primarily targets the lats and may also be felt through the side of the torso.
Training context
Understanding the Side-Lying Floor Stretch
The bent lower leg and rear foot help stabilize the torso. The upper wrist may be guided gently, but it should not be pulled hard enough to disturb the shoulder.
Keep the range small when the ribs flare, the torso rolls backward, or the shoulder feels compressed.
Technique overview
Reach long through the upper side
Lie on one side and arrange the legs for balance. Extend the upper arm overhead and gently guide its wrist away from the hips. Keep the torso stacked, hold a mild stretch, and release slowly before switching sides.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
