Exercise guide

Side to Side Box Shuffle

The Side-to-Side Box Shuffle moves laterally across a low platform while alternating which foot lands on top. The quadriceps, calves, hamstrings, abductors, and adductors contribute to the repeated changes of direction.

Training context

Understanding the Box Shuffle

This drill uses one foot on the box and one on the floor rather than landing with both feet on top. The rhythm should remain light and repeatable in both directions.

Choose a box height that does not require excessive jumping. The platform must be stable, dry, and wide enough for secure foot placement.

Technique overview

Trade foot positions across the box

Stand beside the box with the inside foot near its center. Push up and across so the opposite foot lands on top while the first foot reaches the floor. Reverse the pattern with quick, controlled contacts and keep the torso facing forward.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
