Exercise guide
Single-Leg High Box Squat
Despite its name, the supplied instructions describe a high single-leg step-up rather than a squat. The quadriceps, glutes, and hamstrings raise the body onto the box while a band or rope assists balance.
Training context
Setup Cues for the High Box Step-Up
The box must be stable and low enough that the working foot can remain fully supported. The overhead band or rope should be securely anchored and used only for balance.
A lower step is appropriate when the athlete must jump from the floor or pull heavily with the arms to reach the top.
Technique overview
Drive through the foot already on the box
Place one foot fully on the box and hold the support lightly. Press through the elevated leg to rise until the hip and knee extend. Lower under control using the same leg, complete the set, and then switch sides.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
