Exercise guide

Stairmaster

The Stairmaster uses repeated stepping against machine resistance to create sustained cardiovascular work. The quadriceps are the primary focus, with the glutes, hamstrings, and calves assisting.

Training context

Why the Stairmaster Can Be Useful

The machine can support steady cardio, short climbing intervals, or longer endurance sessions. Speed and resistance can be adjusted without changing equipment or route.

Calorie estimates displayed by the console are approximations. Pace, resistance, duration, and perceived effort provide more useful comparisons between sessions.

Technique overview

Establish the rhythm before raising intensity

Step on carefully and begin at a low setting. Press the pedals through a consistent range while keeping the torso upright and the hands light on the rails. Increase the pace gradually and slow the machine before stepping off.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
