Exercise guide

Standing Biceps Stretch

The Standing Biceps Stretch places the arms behind the torso with the elbows extended. The position can stretch the biceps while also involving the chest and front of the shoulders.

Training context

Keeping the Standing Biceps Stretch Controlled

The arms do not need to lift far to create tension. Keep the shoulders away from the ears and avoid forcing the hands upward.

A towel can be held between the hands when clasping them directly is uncomfortable. Leave the stretch slowly rather than dropping the arms.

Technique overview

Raise the hands only through a comfortable range

Stand tall and clasp the hands behind the body with the elbows gently straightened. Rotate the hands as comfortable and lift them slightly away from the hips. Stop at a mild stretch across the arms, chest, or shoulders, then lower gradually.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
