Standing Overhead Barbell Triceps Extension
The Standing Overhead Barbell Triceps Extension trains both triceps simultaneously. The shoulders stabilize the upper arms while the elbows bend and straighten.
Training context
Using Standing Barbell Extensions in a Workout
A barbell or EZ-bar allows both arms to share one load, but the fixed hand position may be less comfortable than dumbbells or cables. An EZ-bar often reduces wrist strain.
Move the bar into position with care and avoid loading it so heavily that the torso arches or the elbows flare uncontrollably.
Technique overview
Lower the bar behind the head under control
Stand with the bar supported overhead and hands in a comfortable close grip. Bend the elbows to lower the bar behind the head while keeping the upper arms generally steady. Extend the elbows to return overhead and finish before the grip or torso becomes unstable.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
