Exercise guide
Step Mill
The Step Mill uses a continuous rotating staircase to create sustained climbing work. The quadriceps perform much of the stepping effort, while the glutes, hamstrings, and calves assist.
Training context
Keeping the Step Mill Controlled
Begin slowly enough to place the entire foot securely on each step and learn the staircase timing. Use the rails for balance rather than leaning heavily into them.
Console calorie estimates are approximate. Duration, step rate, program, and perceived effort provide better context when comparing sessions.
Technique overview
Climb securely before increasing the step rate
Step onto the machine carefully and begin at a low speed. Maintain an upright posture, look ahead, and place each foot securely before transferring weight. Reduce the speed early enough to step off without rushing or missing a stair.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
