Suspended Split Squat
The Suspended Split Squat is a rear-foot-supported single-leg exercise. The quadriceps provide the primary effort, while the glutes, hamstrings, calves, abductors, and adductors assist with standing and maintaining balance.
Training context
Who May Find the Suspended Split Squat Useful
The moving rear support increases the stability demand compared with a bench-supported split squat. Strap height and the distance of the front foot from the anchor determine the available range.
Begin without external weight and make sure the suspended foot can move naturally. Stop if the strap twists the ankle, pulls the hips out of position, or prevents a controlled descent.
Technique overview
Keep the front foot planted throughout the repetition
Place the rear foot securely in the strap and establish a stable front-foot position. Lower by bending the front knee and hip while keeping pressure through the full front foot. Descend only as far as balance and hip position allow, then extend the front leg to stand. Complete the planned repetitions before carefully switching sides.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
