Exercise guide
Walking, Treadmill
Treadmill walking provides adjustable indoor cardio through changes in speed and incline. The quadriceps are listed as the primary muscle group, while the calves, glutes, and hamstrings assist with each step.
Training context
Setup Cues for Treadmill Walking
Start the belt at a low speed before stepping into the working pace. Incline can increase the demand without requiring running, but speed and grade should be adjusted gradually.
Use the handrails for mounting, dismounting, or brief balance support rather than leaning on them throughout the session. Record duration, speed, incline, and any interval structure.
Technique overview
Build speed and incline gradually
Stand centered on the belt and begin at an easy pace. Maintain an upright walking posture with a natural arm swing and allow the feet to land beneath the body. Change one setting at a time and keep enough control to reach the console or slow the belt safely. Reduce the pace before stepping off the treadmill.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
