Yoke Walk
The Yoke Walk is a strongman carry performed with a loaded frame supported across the upper back. The quadriceps provide the primary locomotion, while the abdominals, hips, calves, glutes, hamstrings, and lower back stabilize the load.
Training context
Setup Cues for the Yoke Walk
Yoke height should allow the frame to clear the ground without requiring an unnecessarily deep pickup. The course must be level, clear, and wide enough for the frame and any side-to-side movement.
Record the total load, distance, time, and yoke height. Use a purpose-built apparatus rather than an improvised household object.
Technique overview
Use short steps beneath a stable frame
Center the upper back beneath the crossbar and brace before standing the yoke up. Begin with short, controlled steps and keep the torso stacked rather than excessively arched. Hold the uprights only as needed to steady the frame. Set the yoke down deliberately if it begins swinging or the walking path cannot be maintained.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
