3/4 Sit-Up
The 3/4 Sit-Up is a bodyweight ab exercise that stops before your back fully returns to the floor. Because you do not completely rest between repetitions, your abs stay engaged throughout the set. It is a simple way to add focused core work without equipment.
Training context
What makes the 3/4 Sit-Up different?
Unlike a standard sit-up that may reset on the floor after each repetition, the 3/4 Sit-Up uses a shorter lowering phase. You raise your torso toward your knees, then lower most of the way before beginning the next rep. This keeps the movement continuous and reduces the pause between repetitions.
It works well as direct abdominal training at the end of a workout or as part of a bodyweight routine. The goal is not to move quickly, but to keep the shortened range smooth and controlled.
Technique overview
Control the shortened return
Secure your feet, bend your knees, and begin with your back on the floor. Raise your torso without pulling on your head or neck. Lower slowly and reverse the movement before your back fully settles. Avoid bouncing at the bottom, and stop the set when you can no longer control the shortened range.
Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
