Exercise guide

Adductor/Groin

The Adductor/Groin exercise is a partner-assisted stretch for the inner thighs. You lie on your back with your legs raised while a partner supports your ankles or feet. After pressing your legs inward against the partner's resistance, you relax and allow the legs to move gently farther apart.

Training context

Who may find the Adductor/Groin stretch useful?

This stretch may suit someone who wants guided inner-thigh mobility and has a trusted partner available. The brief inward squeeze followed by a relaxed stretch can make it easier to work into a new range without immediately forcing the legs apart.

Because the partner controls much of the movement, clear communication matters more than reaching a specific depth. A solo adductor stretch is a better choice when a partner is unavailable or when the assisted position does not feel comfortable.

Technique overview

Communicate throughout the stretch

Lie on your back with your legs raised and have your partner support your feet or ankles. Open the legs only to a comfortable starting position. Press inward against the partner's resistance for about 10 seconds, then relax. Your partner can gently move the legs farther apart, stopping as soon as you ask. Avoid bouncing, sudden pressure, or forcing the stretch.

Treat this as an overview and use a range, pace, and setup you can control.
